NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says he is "not keen to see a return of lockdowns" after confirming a sixth case of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in the state.
A man in his 40s is isolating in Sydney's west after developing mild symptoms following his arrival on a flight from Doha last Thursday.
NSW Health has asked all those on the flight to come forward for testing.
Genomic sequencing is underway to determine if the man has the Omicron variant, but Mr Hazzard said early testing showed it was likely he had the new strain.
