Bayside Council to trial Bay Street closure in Brighton-Le-Sands to keep hoon drivers out

Hoons will have one less place to "show off" their hotted-up cars when Bay Street in Brighton-Le-Sands closes during weekends this summer.
After years of lobbying from residents fed up with the screeching of tyres and revving of engines, Bayside Council announced Transport for New South Wales had agreed to trial a partial closure of the main thoroughfare in the bayside suburb.
Lined by restaurants, cafes and shops, Bay Street would close between Botany Bay and Moate Avenue for six Friday and Saturday nights over summer under the trial.
